Privacy Policy

This Privacy Policy explains how Timeless Dialogue ("we", "the app") handles information when you use our iOS application. We've designed the app to collect as little as possible.

1. Information We Process

• Device identifier. The app generates a per-installation pseudonymous identifier (Apple's identifierForVendor) and sends it as an X-Device-ID header so our server can enforce the daily free message quota and recognize active subscribers. This identifier is reset if you uninstall and reinstall the app and is not linked to your name, Apple ID, email, or other personal accounts.
• Conversation messages. Text you type in chats is sent to our backend, which forwards it to DeepSeek, a third-party large language model provider, to generate AI responses. We do not log the content of your messages on our server. DeepSeek processes the request under its own privacy terms.
• Subscription receipts. When you purchase Pro, Apple's StoreKit sends our server a signed transaction so we can confirm your subscription is active. The receipt contains the product identifier and expiration date — no payment details. Apple, not us, processes your payment.
• Daily usage counter. We store a count of how many free messages your device has sent today, in Cloudflare KV, with a 24-hour expiration. We also store a flag indicating active Pro status, with a ~35-day expiration that refreshes on subscription validation.

2. Information Stored Only on Your Device

• Your chat history with each historical figure (saved in iOS UserDefaults).
• App preferences such as language and selected favorites.

This data never leaves your device. It is included in your iCloud device backup if you have iCloud Backup enabled. Deleting the app removes it.

3. Information We Do Not Collect

• Your name, email address, phone number, or contacts.
• Your precise or approximate location.
• Photos, microphone, camera, or other on-device sensors.
• Browsing or app activity outside of Timeless Dialogue.
• Any advertising identifiers (IDFA). We do not show third-party ads or use ad networks.

4. Third-Party Services

• DeepSeek — generates AI chat responses. See deepseek.com for their privacy practices.
• Cloudflare — hosts our backend Worker and KV storage that enforce the free quota.
• Apple StoreKit / App Store — handles in-app purchases and subscription billing.

5. Data Retention

Daily usage counters expire automatically after 24 hours. Pro status records expire ~35 days after the last successful subscription validation. We do not retain conversation content on our server.

6. Children's Privacy

The app is rated 4+ and does not knowingly collect any personal information from children. The pseudonymous device identifier described above does not identify a person.

7. Your Choices

• You can clear your chat history at any time from the app's settings, which removes it from your device.
• You can manage or cancel your Pro subscription in the iOS Settings app under your Apple ID → Subscriptions.
• Uninstalling the app removes all locally stored data and resets the per-device identifier.

8. Changes

We may update this policy as the app evolves. Material changes will be reflected by updating the effective date above.
